FAQs

  • What are the best months to visit the park when it's not crowded?

Although Yellowstone National Park is an incredible destination to visit throughout the year, the best seasons of the year to visit may be in the fall and spring. During the months of April/May and September/October, the park is noticeably less crowded. While winter months also experience less crowds, the interior of the park, where Old Faithful is located, is restricted to oversnow travel, and many facilitates are closed.
  • Are there tours I can take at the park?

Yes, taking a guided tour is arguably the best way to experience the park, especially for first-time visitors. Most tours are a combination of scenic drives and easy hikes that visit highlights of the park. However, tour operators also offer a number of specialized tours. Whether you enjoy horseback riding, bird watching, backcountry hikes, whitewater rafting or a combination of these activities, tour operators offer a range of activity-specific tours.
